LAUSD to end year with $707 Million surplus — BUT plans to close ALL adult schools?

National Council for Literacy reports (click here) that according to LAUSD’s Second Interim Financial Report the school district will have $707 Million at the end of 2011-2012 school year, but still plans to gut the Adult Education program, closing all Adult Schools.

$707 Million is almost 12% of the LAUSD’s $6 Billion budget!  This is an outrage!
Adult Education is only about 2% of LAUSD’s budget. There IS money to fully fund Adult Education and the School Board needs to fund it now.
