LAUSD posts list: RIF Notices, Rescissions & Final Layoffs

A document titled “Summary of March 15 Notices, Rescissions and Final Layoffs” was posted this evening (June 28) on the Official LAUSD Facebook page (click here) with this explanation:

The document below gives the impression that 1,780 Adult Ed Reduction in Force (RIF) notices are being rescinded.  It is unclear how this number breaks down in terms of the different categories (classified/certificated), but the number of Adult Ed teachers in 2011-2012 is known to be 1,309.

  1. The 1,309 number doesn’t refer to individuals; it refers to FTE’s (Full Time Equivalencies, which means an allocation of 1,309-30 hr positions.) Those FTE’s can be broken down into 3-10 hr assignments amongst 3 different individuals, for example. So there are actually probably MORE employees than 1,309. That number also includes ROC/P positions, not just Adult Ed.
